The unseasonably warm weather here in Kentucky allows for some last chance Petanque before the close of 2006. A great opportunity to try out our shiny new boules.

In this past sunday’s edition of the Chicago Tribune, Mr. Patrick Kampert, who covered the Midwest Alliance Doublette Tournament a couple of weeks ago, wrote a very nice article about Petanque entitled “The old boule game - petanque, bocce’s French cousin, gets first area tournament.” Our thanks to Mr. Kampert for covering the tournament and for including us in the article.
UPDATE: It appears that the Tribune now requires you to register with them before you can read the archived article. Fortunately, it’s a free registration.
If you’ve noticed those 4 little thumbnail sized photos over there in the sidebar on the right, those are generated from the PetanqueLouisville Flickr Feed. We would love to see your photos from the games this past weekend. You can either join our Flickr group or tag your photos in your Flickr account with chicagopetanquetourney2006.
We’re in Chicago (Oak Park, IL) for the doublettes tournament. We’ll keep you posted.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, rain delayed the tournament twice. First, for only a couple of hours. Then the rest of the afternoon. Sadly, we couldn’t stay through sunday to finish the qualification round. We had a great time despite the rain. We enjoyed meeting all of the talented boulistes from Chicago and Michigan, and look forward to playing together again sometime soon. Say in Louisville. See you soon.

I just returned from a delightful picnic of food and petanque with Alliance Francaise of Louisville and others. This was PL’s first membership campaign. I had a blast and I look forward to hearing back from Guy, Michel, Olivier and others.
The results: Our team won the first. Their team won the second. An even draw.
So, there should be a rematch. Let’s make a date.

Our friends to the north are gearing up for The Midwest Petanque Alliance Fall Doublettes Tournament.
The doublettes tournament will be held in Forest Park, Illinois less than 10 miles west of downtown Chicago.
We hope to participate in the tournament. We hope you’ll be there too.
We very much appreciate all of the friendly welcome notes from the greater Petanque community. Thank you.
We finally have a way to contact us thanks to Ryan Duff.
Our Game page is now up. Finally.
We’ve started a flickr group titled, creatively enough, PetanqueLouisville. Join us, share your photos, discuss p&ecaute;tanque.
