It is with great thanks to those in the Louisville Metro Parks Department that we announce the first public petanque terrain. Ok, well, officially we have to share the space with volleyball, but a terrain nonetheless. It’s located in Seneca Park just east of the tennis courts. I’ll include some photos and a Google Earth file below.

Petanque Louisville in the Chicago Tribune
Wednesday, October 18th, 2006![]()
In this past sunday’s edition of the Chicago Tribune, Mr. Patrick Kampert, who covered the Midwest Alliance Doublette Tournament a couple of weeks ago, wrote a very nice article about Petanque entitled “The old boule game – petanque, bocce’s French cousin, gets first area tournament.” Our thanks to Mr. Kampert for covering the tournament and for including us in the article.
UPDATE: It appears that the Tribune now requires you to register with them before you can read the archived article. Fortunately, it’s a free registration.

A game with The Alliance Française of Louisville
Sunday, September 10th, 2006I just returned from a delightful picnic of food and petanque with Alliance Francaise of Louisville and others. This was PL’s first membership campaign. I had a blast and I look forward to hearing back from Guy, Michel, Olivier and others.
The results: Our team won the first. Their team won the second. An even draw.
So, there should be a rematch. Let’s make a date.

Pétanque on the waterfront.
Sunday, July 23rd, 2006
We’ve added a Google map with links for directions on the community page so that you can easily find your way to the piste on the Louisville Waterfront. We hope this helps. We would really like to hear your feedback, suggestions, criticisms. Write to us: contact form.
UPDATE: We’ve changed the Local Community Info page to reflect the new piste construction proposal site that’s currently under review by the Louisville Metro Parks Department.
